Week 8: Retention and Flow

Module 4

This module covers follow up content from Renal disorders last week specific to the critical care patient and care of the Burn patient.

At the end of this module, students will be able to:

  • Identify and describe acute and chronic renal conditions including pathophysiology, presenting signs and symptoms, etiology and contributing factors, sequelae and progression, and goals of nursing management
  • Identify and describe critical care related care of the burn patient including pathophysiology, presenting signs and symptoms, etiology and contributing factors, sequelae and progression, and goals of nursing management
  • Compare and contrast acute versus chronic disease illness related to the renal system and function
  • Identify key nursing management strategies for patients with renal disease or burn patients
  • Categorize appropriate nursing care planning (assessment, diagnosis, goals, interventions, evaluation) related to the patient with renal disorders or burns.

Assignments

In class, we will practice some charting, and then critique one another.

Homework

This week, go back to ATI and complete the Targeted Medical Surgical 2013 Renal and Urinary. Due Wednesday after Spring Break.
